- I'm interested in school safety because children are one of our country's important assets; the learning that children achieve at our schools is directly related to the successful future of our country. Kids who do not feel safe at school will not learn as effectively as they should. As a parent of school age children, I know exactly the basic expectation that my children are kept as safe at school as they can be, and that school staff are the people who make that expectation a reality.
As a recently retired public school employee directly responsible for school crisis management, I have a unique understanding of the challenges faced by school districts and individual staff as they do their best to keep our kids safe while providing an open and welcoming learning environment. I am committed to helping schools improve their crisis management capacity.

School Safety Exercises with Law Enforcement Partners
The Boulder Valley School District covers a geographic area of just over 500 square miles. Our 55 school locations include urban areas with schools adjacent to a large college campus, suburban schools located in neighborhoods of various socio-economic conditions, and a few small rural mountain schools.
